Charity Works

From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been involved in charitable activities, and since its inception it has provided support for many widows and orphans of Freemasons as well as many others within the community.

All monies raised for charity are drawn from amongst Freemasons, their families and friends while grants and donations are made to Masonic and non-Masonic charities alike. It is however entirely up to the individual member what he gives to Charity, but it should always be without detriment to his other responsibilities.

The Lodge of St George No 1152 E.C. regularly support charities through regular and one-off donations. These charities are outlined by the Worship Master in his year of office and all funds raised throughout the year are donated to that charity. Charities that we have or are still supporting are as follows:

Cheshire Home Singapore

The Singapore Cheshire Home is a Home for the physically disabled of both sexes and any race or creed who are “without means or resources or are of limited means or resources.” It aims to provide rehabilitation, stimulating activities, employment opportunities, recreation and encouragement for them in an atmosphere as much like a family home as possible.

Children's Aid Society (Singapore)

We have this Masonic Year started to support the efforts of the Children's Aid Society in Singapore.  Formed in the late 1800's as the St Nicholas Home, it has been known as The Children's Aid Society since 1902.  It operates the Melrose Home to cater to the needs of children between the ages of 4 and 12 years old, who require care or protection. The website gives information about the society and what it does, the programs it conducts, expenses, fund raising efforts, volunteers and events.

If you wish to know more about the Lodge’s charities endeavours then please call or email the Lodge Secretary.
