Festive Board
After every one of our regular monthly meetings, all members of the lodge and our visitors attend a formal dinner, which Freemasons call a “Festive Board” also at Freemasons’ Hall .Although the dinner is separate to our meeting, it is still a very important part of our culture and the night as a whole. Our Festive Board is taken in candlelight and is usually a three course affair followed by port and cheese.
At the Festive Board we always toast the Head of State, The President and the Republic of Singapore, The Queen and the Craft, as well as certain other Masonic dignitaries and distinguished Brethren. Some speeches are made and often there are short (5-10 minute) educational talks on Topics of Masonic interest. Some of these talks can be found on the links below.
We always close by toasting “all poor and distressed Freemasons”, so that we remember those of our Brethren less fortunate than ourselves. All Brethren are then invited to take a red rose, a traditional symbol of Our Lodge, for their wives or partners.
