Education
In the Lodge of St George we take Masonic education very seriously. Indeed all Freemasons are charged to make a daily advancement in Masonic knowledge, so as to render themselves more serviceable to their fellow creatures and more just upright and honourable citizens of the World.
Many other Lodges do not place as great an emphasis on Masonic education as we do often leaving the subject for more specialised "research" Lodges that Brethren also join as part of their Masonic journey.
For us it is one of the fundamental pre-requisites of being an active participant in our Lodge. All candidates as part of joining our Lodge must prepare a paper on their reasons for joining.
Freemasonry has certain intermediate stages before a brother is deemed a fully fledged “Master Mason” – all Brethren are required to write papers on their reflections and understanding of these intermediate stages.
Brethren are also often called upon to present talks on topics of Masonic interest or even write a more detailed paper.
A small sample of some talks/presentations of Masonic interest is set out below:-
